Summary of Job Duties:
The University of Arkansas Press (UAPR) seeks a Sales and Publicity Manager. Reporting to the Marketing Director, the primary responsibility of the Sales and Publicity Manager is building relationships with readers, retailers, wholesalers, libraries, and other customers of UAPR books. The Sales and Publicity Manager will work collaboratively with their UAPR colleagues and UAPR authors, as well as community and industry partners, to implement and analyze plans for Sales and to oversee events for scholarly and trade titles in print and digital formats.
Primary Responsibilities:
Identify and establish sales targets, including sales to individuals, institutions, and retailers. Build and maintain targeted customer lists and create and implement publicity campaigns to those groups, including print, digital, and social media.
Organize exhibits at scholarly and literary conferences.
Assist authors with book signings, book talks, and other events. Assist (non-retailer) venues in arranging book sales, and help authors promote events.
Work with wholesalers and retailers to ensure distribution of metadata and marketing materials. Ensure that all UAPR titles (print and digital) are available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org, through Ingram and Baker and Taylor, and other key accounts. Manage UAPR's presence on Edelweiss.
Work closely with Arkansas booksellers, including independent bookstores, state parks, museums, and specialty shops throughout the state, to ensure availability of UAPR titles and to expand customer base as appropriate.
Ensure delivery of files and metadata to e-book retailers. Analyze and explore new e-book sales opportunities. Research e-book platforms to discover new sales opportunities and to increase the reach and visibility of UAPR titles.
Analyze and present results of sales efforts.
Other duties as assigned.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field
  • At least five years' experience in Sales and Publicity, or related experience
  • Proven excellence in both written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with University Press Publishing
  • Knowledge of Print and Web Design principles
