Summary

Our International team at our Corporate HQ in Salisbury, Maryland is looking for a Sales and Logistics Manager to oversee the international portfolio. Responsibility includes following sales protocol and customer order entry process, focusing on customer satisfaction-responsiveness and flexibility in resolving customer order issues within general business SOP’s and according to Perdue’s policies and procedures.  This includes analytics/ reporting as well as, daily interaction with our customers as well as plant operations, logistics, international accounting, international sales, etc.  Perform all responsibilities within established state, federal, and international laws and requirements.      

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administer/ follow best practices to produce, store, & ship goods for the international segment of our company. 
  • Manage sales/ sales order confirmations to ensure that we are able meet customer/ importing country requirements.  Report any issues/ concerns to the appropriate person(s) ASAP.
  • Ensure that we follow all USDA/ FSIS requirements for international exports.
  • Manage relationships with assigned customers and outside providers (Freight Forwarders, Inland Truckers, and Cold Storage Warehouses).  Responsible for claims for assigned customer base and/or sales agents and following through until resolution.
  • Manage the Sales and logistical requirements for assigned customer base which, may include international agent(s).  Determine the best-case scenario in terms weighing the sales options as well as, recommend the best meat form to pack (see #7).
  • Take the lead on price negotiations as well issues/ claims with steamship lines, NVOCC’s, and inland truckers; and keep up to date steamship line/ trucker rates posted on the portal.
  • Handle the communications, including any production needs/ changes, with the demand & supply planning and operations groups.  This is to be driven by price/ mix/ alternative option analytics.
  • Manage orders for assigned customer base ensuring timely entry of orders, correct pricing, and inventory supply within established goals.
  • Coordinate documentation needs for assigned customer base.  Keep all parties involved for any problem until resolution is found.
  • Conduct analyses of international logistics and provide routine and ad hoc reporting as required.  Must have a working knowledges of appropriate software packages.
  • Along with direct report(s), manage export freight variances, keeping within our established goal.  For assigned customer base ensure that inventory turn goals and price performance goals are met.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business or related field. The ideal candidate will have/be: 

  •  3 - 5 years international sales experience, preferably, in the meat protein category.
  • Previous direct managerial experience 
  • Knowledge of International terms (Incoterms) and export trading regulations.
  • Understanding of International sales, logistics and documentation requirements.
  • Understanding of basic software applications.
  • Strong communication, math, and analytical skills.
  • Must be a self starter as well as have a strong affinity for teamwork.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in order of deadline importance.
  • Ability to realistically assess situations, ask specific/ targeted questions in order to recommend and follow through (do the math) to arrive at best decisions; as well as seek help and take direction from management when necessary.
  • Ability to handle all tasks with diplomacy and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including telephone/ written etiquette required – including an understanding/ interest to develop a rapport with international customers. 

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.  May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
