SUMMARY: The Safety Specialist is responsible for managing George's Fleet Safety Program, Contractor Management Program, and assist in managing George's EHS programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental health and safety laws and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Coordinate, and manage George's Fleet safety and Contractor Management programs.
• Support and advise site management about the Fleet Safety and Contractor Management programs.
• Administer safety systems, report data, track completion, and maintain records of compliance for management, federal/state, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Federal Moto Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), and external auditors.
• Provide support and information to production, transportation, and other personnel
• Assist with review and update of safety written programs, policies, and systems.
• Maintain corporate Fleet and Contractor Management safety library and systems(e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals).
• Promote safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific training programs.
• Review process-operating procedures/records and provide input for safety considerations.
• Understand federal and state occupational safety and health and DOT regulations and monitor regulatory changes as they occur.
• Provide technical support to corporate and plant personnel to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Audit Fleet Safety program, practices, and records of locations to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations.
• Control and monitor Fleet liability through claims and expenditures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Required
oAssociate degree in Business, Engineering, Science or Safety related field AND 3+ years of experience in a safety and operational risk management OR 5+ years of experience in progressively responsible safety an operations risk management role.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Access, Excel Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
o Strong knowledge of safety regulations (Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), hazard communications, accident investigation and safety training methods)
o Strong oral and written communications skills
o Strong project management and change management skills
o Strong understanding of data and trend analysis; translating data trends into actionable recommendations
