We're hiring a Safety and Regulation Engineer.
Our Forvia Hydrogen Solutions team is looking for a Safety and Regulation Engineer for its technical center in Farmington Hills, MI. The position owner is accountable for the safety of the GSS products and compliance with GSS regulations, within his/her scope.
You'll work on challenges that matter.
This job will require you to:
  • Drive deployment and confirm robust execution of S/R relevant processes in the regional organization, across all relevant functions.
  • Implement and manage regional continuous improvement through S/R audits.
  • Manage the regional S/R network and actively contribute to the global S/R network to foster improvement on global level.
  • Monitor and Report S/R KPI, trigger actions to achieve the targets.
  • Promote and develop the S/R culture in the region across all levels of the organization.
  • Has the authority to block a program, stop the production and the delivery of products in case of S/R risk or non-compliance.
  • Participate to regional S/R escalation process (AMS); follow-up S/R alerts to ensure robust problem resolution and capitalization of Lessons Learned.
  • Ensure that the needed level of S/R resources are provided to the region with the required skills.

Responsibilities in Customer Programs:
  • Ensure application of the process to identify and mitigate safety risks inherent to the product design and process design to an acceptable level, throughout the product lifecycle (e.g., Hazard and Risk Analysis, FMEA).
  • Secure the verification of the S/R characteristics along the development of new projects.
  • Validate the DFMEA, PFMEA and the Production Control Plan to confirm compliance with S/R expectations.
  • Ensure that the S/R-related documentation is collected, and S/R reviews are performed, following the development process. Approve S/R releases at Project milestones and for delivery of products.
  • Reports safety progress status, issues and risks to Program Manager, regional and global management.
  • Confirm that Safety requirements are forwarded in the supply chain and their fulfilment is validated.

Responsibilities in Series Production:
  • Lead the training related to management of S/R standards and to S/R knowledge and monitor coverage.
  • Verify that S/R standards are robustly applied, and securitization of S/R characteristics is guaranteed in process execution.
  • Establish reporting of S/R KPI and drive actions to achieve targets.
  • Verify that Alert Management System (AMS) is applied as well as non-conformity management and deviation management for S/R issues.

The ideal candidate.
To succeed in this position, you will ideally have:
  • Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Min. 6 years of experience in the Automotive Industry, in management position of Product. Safety & Regulation or Quality Management of products with S/R relevance. Also, other industries like railway vehicle or aeronautics could be relevant.
  • In-depth knowledge about product safety requirements and methods (Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, FMEAs, safety measures implementation, validation of safety requirements).
  • Experience in deployment of Product Safety and Regulations management processes.
  • Experience in compressed hydrogen technology would be a bonus.
  • Above average communication skills, leadership skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in global team, located in different places, international mind-set, and experience.
  • Ability to promote and implement S/R culture in the region on different levels of the organization across different functions.
  • At ease with managing activities and issues at different time scales and different complexity levels.
  • English language skills required (professional level).
