Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Bedford, Indiana on a full-time basis.
The Role
Accountable for providing Workplace Safety technical and regulatory advice, mentoring, guiding, and coaching to site/functional operations. They are responsible for assisting Site Leadership with the following to maintain compliance with all GM Workplace Safety and regulatory requirements.
Analyzing Workplace Safety data and communicating results and trends along with continuous improvement opportunities; Assessing site Workplace Safety performance and conformance to requirements;
Working in partnership with the local site leadership to support Workplace Safety cultural transformation;
Developing and educating site employees to drive Workplace Safety cultural transformation; and Developing partnerships with key site personnel including Manufacturing Leadership, Human Resources, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics resources, and Health Services.
As a Safety Operations Supervisor , you will provide safety leadership and coordination for Bedford Casting operations including manufacturing, projects and initiatives to create, enhance and sustain compliance to regulatory requirements and conformance to GM standards throughout the manufacturing facility. Assure program, process development and implementation and lead Workplace Safety resources. Interface with business leadership, unions, employees as well as external stakeholders to protect GM reputation and drive continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
This is a People Leader position.
Develop valuable strategic direction that drives successful execution of Global Workplace Safety Strategy Deployment at the site level.
Responsible for driving successful execution of the annual GWS action plans at the sites, providing Site GWS Champions with clear direction, education and tools to be effective roadblock busters for their respective functions, requiring local/regional regulatory requirements and GM requirements are understood, implemented, and assessed at site.
Meet with union representatives and works through resolution of issues
Assist or direct the resolution of government safety violations or citations
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
5+ years of relevant experience in EHS
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety/Industrial Hygiene / related discipline or equivalent experience
Demonstrated skills in facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution
Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and project management skills
What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Masters degree in Occupational Safety or Industrial Environmental Health
