Job Summary
The Safety Manager will help create and maintain the safety culture at GSI. This leader will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery and enforcement of GSI's Safety Program to the company. The Safety Manager will also share in the responsibility of ensuring the company is compliant with all company, local, state, and federal health and safety regulatory requirements. This leader must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the management and associate teams and influence change by way of risk assessments and safety data analysis.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities
- Formulates, supports and promotes general safety policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Inspects or tours job sites to detect existing or potential incident and health hazards, and reports to the Safety Director and Superintendents their recommendations on corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
- Work with the People & Talent Department with providing support to all GSI employees by collecting, filing, submitting, and managing all incident information and claims throughout investigations, critical concerns, statements and compliance needs and issues.
- Participates in the investigation of incidents and injuries compiling information in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Facilitate claims review with insurance company on a quarterly basis.
- Administer and maintain the GSI Safety program by identifying trends and establishing focused safety plans to mitigate risks and exposure, and ensure all information is compliant, current, relevant, and available.
- Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety program.
- Work with outside agencies, in continually assessing our processes addressing safety issues.
- Assists with coordinating all safety training throughout the designated region by working with contractors, subcontractors and clients to establish relationships while maintaining a mutual understanding of jobsite requirements and enforcing jobsite expectation per GSI standards.
- Participate in the creation, presentation, and facilitation of safety material and data for New Hire Presentation, Annual Meetings, Board Meetings, Monthly Safety Updates, and others as requested.
- Enter all company safety information, reporting, and data into platforms as requested. (Viewpoint, Box.com, Safety Dashboard, Top Ten Inspection Data, Fit Test Reports, Safety Stand Up Training, various safety initiative trainings/certifications, etc.)
- Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
- Has the responsibility and authority to stop or modify any function required to achieve a safe work environment.
- Other ad-hoc items as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field of study
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a related role involving coordinating, supervising, or training
- ERP system experience (JDE, SAP, etc)
- Compliance software experience
- Proficient with Office Suite software, specifically Microsoft Excel

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and focus on timeliness and accuracy
- Proactive, self-starter and continuous improvement mindset
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively on a team
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Certifications such as CSP, OSHA, HAZMAT, CSP/First Aid preferred
