Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates with government officials, contractors, subcontractors, and customers and inspects industrial work sites to ensure compliance with federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations as well as Company policies and procedures. Completes Safety and Environmental Discrepancy reports and ensures correction of any discrepancies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs daily safety inspections of worksites to ensure employees are wearing required PPE and conducting safe work practices in order to prevent injury or damage to equipment, property, or machinery.
- Submits Safety Discrepancy reports as required and identifies housekeeping and/or other safety discrepancies while working with MHI project teams to ensure items are corrected in a timely manner.
- Performs environmental sampling such as air, sound, light, and temperature when directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must have good working knowledge of OSHA 1915 Maritime Regs, and Navsea Standard Items.)
- Must have worked within the maritime industry and be familiar with maritime terminology.
- Must be able to direct others and enforce regulations even if it requires work stoppage.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Requires excellent communication skills.
- Ability to obtain the following certifications:
- *OSHA Maritime 5400 or 5410
- *OSHA 3095 Electrical Standards
- *OSHA 3115 Fall Protection
- *OSHA 521 Guide to Industrial Hygiene
