Job Summary
Responsible for the development, coordination, and promotion of programs and activities necessary for the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions, the control of accident and health hazards. Provides for effective control during emergency conditions, and ensures compliance with local, state and federal safety and environmental laws.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Research, develop and assist in the implementation and administration (including the update of SOP's) of safety and health related policies.
- Investigate accidents and maintain pertinent records, including OSHA, Workers' Compensation and Corporate.
- Confer, advise with all levels of management regarding health, safety and hazardous waste related items.
- Coordinate and confer with SEI OFCD Safety Department, providing all necessary reporting and communication
- Keep up to date on changing regulations and initiate actions to inform and maintain compliance.
- Appraise, analyze and recommend the need for appropriate equipment, train personnel in the proper usage.
- Inspect and maintain the Forklift & Petestrian Alert system to ensure proper functionality
- Coordinate the activities related to proper accumulation and disposal of waste chemicals, and maintain appropriate records as required by law.
- Conduct safety and industrial hygiene audits.
- Serve as liaison for the company during governmental inspections related to health, safety and the environment.
- Conduct safety training to new employees and contractors.
- Ensure posting of SEI/SEUHO Safety posters, work with Marketing to develop SEL specific messaging
- Conduct training sessions regarding health, safety and environmental related items.
- Conduct and maintain all record keeping requirements per safety and health laws.
- Serve as liaison for company for administering the Right-to-know regulations.
- Serve as company representative for community safety related activities/meetings.
- Review, understand, and ensure compliance with all SEI Global Safety Standards
- Confers and counsels with employees, management, and company physician regarding health and safety issues.
- Environmental issues - develop applications and obtains appropriate permits. Serve as company liaison on all environmental issues.
- Develop, coordinate and implement an emergency response plan.
- Serve as the chairperson of the Central Safety Committee, and administer and coordinate all related activities.
- Represent SEL on SEG EH&S working group, SMDC working group, and assist with Continuity Planning
- Ensure all safety related plant equipment is properly inspected, maintained.
- Coordinate and obtain all facility related government permits.
- Maintain active involvement in engineering design to ensure safe and ergonomically sound equipment is obtained and installed.
Minimum Education Requirements
- Bachelor of Science / Arts Degree in Engineering or a Physical Science
Required Experience and Skills
- Five or more years of experience with responsibility for Safety and Environmental Compliance in a manufacturing facility is strongly preferred.
- Working Knowledge OSHA, NFPA and EPA regulations
- Experince overseeing an industrial Safety Pogram.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SQL experience preferred
