As a Safety Engineer your responsibilities will be:
- Maintain and apply knowledge of current health and safety policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
- Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to make sure that they meet safety requirements.
- Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of various industrial control mechanisms.
- Investigate industrial accidents and injuries to determine their causes and to determine whether the incidents were avoidable or can be prevented in the future.
- Install safety devices on machinery or direct the installation of these devices.
A strong Safety Engineer will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupation Health & Safety, Engineering, EE or ME, or equivalent (Preferred EE)
- Minimum of 5 years prior related experience.
- Strong regulatory knowledge in federal, state, and local regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, excellent team skills.
- Previous OSHA training, Ability to train others.
- Accident investigation experience.
- Proven strong organizational skills including logistics, time management and scheduling.
- Must be a people person who can manage with confidence, maintain policy/protocol with crew, and operate with authority when needed.
- High creativity and driven to problem solve.
- Have a willingness to travel and keep a flexible schedule (work on a production schedule).
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing conditions, job functions, and regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Desire to continue development of technical skills and industry knowledge.
Safety at CNG:
- Ensure that safety and health concerns are given primary consideration in all activities
- Follows company guidelines and actively participates in all safety processes
- Carry out job/area specific housekeeping duties and maintain a high standard of professionalism
- Look for, report, and correct any near misses/unsafe conditions or behaviors as soon as possible
- Identify needed changes and make recommendations - find a better way
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, requesting supervisor assistance when needed (use as needed)

- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand up to the full duration of your shift on a cement production floor. The team member frequently is required to use arms to reach and hands to handle or feel. The team member must repetitively lift and/or move up to 65 pounds. Must be able to routinely climb stairs and work safely around numerous hot surfaces and rotating equipment.
- Team members are also required to frequently talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Team members in this role are exposed to seasonal temperature/humidity changes that can be near 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
