Job Title: Safety Data Sheet & Compliance Manager(aka Regulatory Compliance Manager)

Job Location: NJ Corporate Office

Pay: Competitive pay based on education and experience. This position also has annual bonus eligibility

RC HR Consulting has been hired to recruit a Regulatory Compliance Manager for a client who created this new position due to the growth in their business. The position will be on-site at its Corporate HQ in beautiful Warren County NJ, which is a county located adjacent to the PA border.

Position Overview:

The Regulatory Compliance Manager is the individual responsible for ensuring the company is fully compliant with global trade compliance, regulatory requirements with plants in the US, Mexico, Canada, and the Netherlands, which include all product Safety Data Sheets, labels, literature, and supporting documentation.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Must have minimum (3) years’ experience with authoring of formulated product (multiple ingredient) SDSs and product labeling. Must be well versed in OSHA and REACH SDS requirements. Interface with tech personnel as required.
  • Maintain regulatory declarations. RoHS, REACH SVHC, conflict minerals, GADSL, PFAS, Prop 65, etc.
  • Sustain online hosting of product SDSs.
  • Quickly creating SDS for new product samples, revising current SDS and using software or an outside vendor to transfer the SDS documentation into approximately ten languages.
  • Maintain SDS list of raw materials and substances used at each location.
  • Must have experience with administering trade compliance by ensuring the company’s imports and exports meet customs’ regulations.
  • Provide proactive regulatory advice to business managers and support functions.
  • Continually assess our organization’s training needs and provide innovative solutions to attend to those needs.

17-Core Duties:

  • Author new SDSs for new products
  • Update existing library of SDSs – no more than 3 years old
  • Manage supplier SDSs
  • Maintain a chemical inventory for each site
  • Average daily quantity in pounds
  • Maximum daily quantity in pounds
  • SARA 311 & 312 reports for US sites – use chemical inventory to determine reporting requirements.
  • SARA 313 reports when required – in NJ also submit sate report
  • TSCA 12b, 13c import export documentation
  • REACH and EU compliance with international shipments – profile
  • DOT compliance for domestic shipping
  • Hazard communication labeling
  • Internal labeling
  • Shipping labels
  • Assist with Haz-com audits
  • Manage new chemical approval process
  • Develop and provide hazard communication training materials
  • Maintain SDS hosting platform
  • TSCA – PMN and SNU submittals
  • Hazard waste management – create profiles, labels, SDSs
  • Regulatory Declaration update

Preferred Experience/skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, materials or environmental science, chemistry, environmental health & safety, or related field preferred; or a comparable combination of training, professional experience, and education.
  • Three to five years of experience with an international chemical or specialty products company is strongly desired.
  • Experience facilitating operational training including knowledge of regulatory training programs.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A team-oriented, collaborative work style.
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A desire to learn new and challenging areas of regulation.
  • Experience collaborating and partnering with internal and external stakeholders highly preferred.
  • Experience delivering training through multiple channels to include online learning, in person and multi-media formats highly preferred.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must be willing to travel as required.
  • Strong computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office.
  • Multilingual in both English and Spanish languages desired.

Working conditions

A willingness to do overnight air travel up to 25% is needed.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Full time day hours: travel and occasional overtime may extend hours
