Responsibilities of position:
- Work closely with the Safety Director and Lead Safety team members
- Main responsibility will be maintaining DOT files and new Driver Processing - experience required
Other Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for maintaining Hours of Service (HOS) standards - including training, monitoring, assisting owner operators and company drivers, as well as off-site locations, with HOS issues and concerns.
- Responsible for the issuance and activation of ELD’s to off-site locations as well as the corporate office.
- Responsible for auditing of driver qualification, truck, and trailer files
- Will prepare reports outlining all discrepancies found during the audit
- Will attend and assist with the preparation of safety meetings
- Will work as liaison between corporate office and off-site locations on a variety of safety topics and issues, including compliance items and corrective actions pertaining to all drivers
- May be responsible for preparing weekly reports
- The processing of driver applications to include, the collection and review of all reports and documentations necessary to qualify a driver(s) and build strong DQ file
- Must have knowledge of the Federal Clearinghouse
- Lease and de-lease drivers
- Collect, review and process various compliance items from drivers and off-site locations.
- Work closely with owner operators on various inquiries and issues that arise
- Random Drug and Alcohol Program - ensure the random program guidelines are followed and met as required by Federal Regulations
- Assist Safety Director with various safety initiatives and projects
- Activation/deactivation of company fuel cards
- Processing drivers through TSA and subsequent renewals
- Responsible for all Houston badging to new associates
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with DOT files and processing new driver applicants
- Familiar with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations
- Familiar with the Hours of Service (HOS) and the ELD mandate
- Familiar with the required driver qualification process
- Familiar with driver qualification files and maintenance records.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to communicate
- Willing to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines
- Interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with drivers, peers, and upper management
- Confidentiality is a must
