Job description

Position Summary:
The Safety and Asset Protection Officer ensures protection and safeguard to all guests, Team Members, and Company assets, while providing an exceptional guest service. This position patrols the property while assisting guests and Team Members as required, and responds to any/all incidents and emergencies, including medical aid and any reports of suspicious activities. Additionally, Safety and Asset Protection Officers provide the dispatch function for the Department.
Essential Functions:
  • Uphold Company policy and Department standards while maintaining professionalism and integrity.

  • Protects all company assets to include physical property, merchandise, Team Members
  • Responds to events within the property including medical situations and other customer or employee needs.
  • Responds to and completes general support tasks such as employee or customer escort, hotel details, lost and found inquiries, employee or guest report of incidents, safety-related issues, and other details as assigned.
  • Investigates, writes, and prepares comprehensive incident reports as necessary.
  • Checks and verifies identification of patrons when needed.
  • Patrols Property on foot, in assigned motor vehicle, or other specialized vehicle, as outlined in department standard operating procedures.
  • Supports management for any emergency response.
  • Successfully complete or maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Other related duties including but not limited to complying with the following:
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable Company and departmental policies and procedures, as well as the willingness to learn and follow any policy or procedure that may be introduced in the future.
  • Adhere to all appearance and uniform standards.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with Management.
  • Maintains a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with guests, Team Members, and vendors.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding any information or action that takes place in the course and scope of duties.
  • Regular attendance and arriving on time to all scheduled shifts and mandatory meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Special Skills:
  • High school diploma required.
  • The ideal candidate is a seasoned and highly effective professional with outstanding work performance history in a hospitality-based environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Security operations in a hospitality-based setting is required. Law enforcement experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and commitment to maintaining an exceptional service experience for external and internal customers.
  • Ability to successfully maximize productivity and carry out essential functions of the job without direct supervision.
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.

  • Safely operate a motor vehicle and/or similar equipment, and maintain a current valid driver’s license.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or EMT certification a plus.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

  • Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.
  • Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner.
  • Proficiency in operation of computers and associated systems.
  • Ability to prepare, organize, and report data on and generated by computer.
  • Available to work varied shifts when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
Working Conditions:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; bend and lift; and reach with hands and arms.
This position may require extended periods of standing and walking throughout the entire course of a shift, periodically be required to sit, kneel, negotiate stairs, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. This position functions indoors, and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Also requires the dexterity to operate a computer, listen to radio traffic, and observe surveillance coverage simultaneously.
