Our medical staff consists of board-certified specialists in surgery, oncology, internal medicine, cardiology, and dentistry in addition to a skilled and experienced group of emergency veterinarians.

We are proud of the doctors we have appointed to provide you and your pet the highest level of care possible. The Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society accredited Advanced Veterinary Specialists as a Level II Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Facility in January 2015. Only two veterinary hospitals in California have received the Level II distinction, and one of them is AVS!

This certification is intended to recognize hospitals who go over and beyond the basic requirements set forth by VECCS. VECCS does this in an effort to raise the standard for treatment while also promoting public and professional awareness of the importance of providing emergency and critical patient care for Veterinary patients. Duties and responsibilities you may own in this role: Demonstrate safe and proper restraint of fractious animals Participate in receiving and giving rounds to ensure continuity of care Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications and understand potential adverse effects of medications Perform nursing care tasks such as placing and/or maintaining urinary catheters, nasoenteral tubes, nasal oxygen tubes, chest and abdominal tubes.

Exceptional nursing care skills for a variety of hospitalized patients Experience with anesthetic procedures in an ER environment Exceptional nursing care skills for a variety of hospitalized patients Triaging and admitting emergent cases Diagnostic procedures such as radiographs and a variety of in house lab work Continually demonstrate exceptional and empathetic client communication and education whether it be in written or verbal form in a timely manner. Basic Required Qualifications: High school diploma 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license) Work Schedule: Full-Time Flexible Schedules Available Some Weekend and Holiday Availability Required Perks: Monthly in-house RACE-approved courses and staff development opportunities for all employees! We'll cover eligible expenses for continuing education and coursework! We also pay YOU when you hit major career milestones, earn your RVT or your VTS and get a cash bonus! Compensation range $18.00 - $35.00 hourly plus differentials and overtime as needed.
