Maintenance Technician - Predictive and Preventive Leader

Job Summary:The Maintenance Technician - Predictive and Preventative Leader is a member of the Roanoke Valley Lumber (RVL) maintenance team. The requirements set forth in the RVL work system apply to this role and the individual must advance beyond level 2 within 2 years of employment with RVL. This individual will assume responsibility for the Predictive and Preventive Maintenance Programs at RVL.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Work safely and effectively in a team environment
• Member of the maintenance team with priorities in assisting all aspect of the maintenance team.
• Monitor and maintain the installed vibration system on mill equipment
• Build and conduct monthly vibration routes using a handheld data collector
• Build and conduct Infrared PMs on electrical distribution and other equipment
• Assisting with the lubrication effort at RVL to include conducting lube routes and ensuring lubrication PMs are completed properly.
• Analyze collected data from inspections, sensors, and output values to report findings and make recommendations of corrective maintenance.
• Initiates, develops and prepares reporting to notify operations and maintenance teams of equipment health to recommend proactive maintenance.
• Collaborates with Maintenance Planners to determine and recommend prioritization of maintenance.
• Assist with precision repair and maintenance of mill equipment as needed.
• Assist with planning repair work using drawings, equipment manuals or field research.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Ability and willingness to obtain a MLT1 certification.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

• 10+ years in a maintenance field, either mechanical or electrical
• Understanding of Vibration Analysis
• Understanding of Infrared Analysis
• Understanding of lubrication best practices and MLT1 certification

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Overtime required.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
