Form of workThe Peddie Rowing program is seeking coaches to fill the following positions. The Varsity Assistant Coach helps the Head Boys and Head Girls Coaches with the varsity squads daily as directed. Novice Coaches have full responsibility for a squad of Novice Boys or Novice Girls. Ideally, coaches would also teach. Please see open faculty positions for needed subjects. Rowing coaches can also be part-time.

The Peddie Rowing teams train at the Caspersen Rowing Center on Mercer Lake. With a primary focus on racing coxed fours in the spring, our fleet is often converted to coxed quads in the fall. Peddie also has several Coastal Solos (singles), a new Olympic discipline in rowing. Our program carries about 50 varsity and 24 novice athletes in total. We look forward to moving into our new erg room on campus next year.
Responsibilities include:- Coaching high school rowers and coxswains on the water and on land in the fall and spring seasons
- Creating a positive, competitive, and fun team atmosphere
- Preparing rowers and coxswains for competition in head and sprint races.
- Attend all practices and competitions
- At least three years of collegiate rowing/coxing experience or above
- Clear understanding of rowing technique
- Ability to communicate and explain concepts clearly
- Create and maintain a safe, positive atmosphere for students to develop into competitive athletes of high character
- Experience driving a coaching launch
- Have a NJ Boating Safety License
- Be able to swim
- Complete USRowing SafeSport Training
Boating license and Safe Sport Training can be completed ASAP, but not required to apply.
Peddie practices Monday-Saturday afternoons in the fall and spring. Races occur most weekends in the spring and two or three weekends in the fall.
