Form of workThe job of Router/Bus Driver is done for the purpose/s of processing transportation requests for students; entering data into the District's student database; maintaining updated bus routes; creating route books; processing departmental correspondence; transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from buses. This job reports to Director of Transportation.
Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior; assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations; assists students and other passengers; attends meetings, trainings, etc.; cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior; conducts emergency evacuation drills; creates route books for school staff; develops route change letters for adjusted routes; drives school bus/s; ensures summer bus stop letters are processed and disseminated throught the District's mail system to all transportation students; fuels assigned vehicle (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.); maintains current bus routes on District's website; makes route adjustments/modifications; performs pre-trip and ost-trip inspections (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.); prepares documents and reports (e.g. field trips reports, incident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.); processes transportation requests and inputs information into the District's student database; reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.); responds to inquiries (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.); supervises students and other passengers furing transit and assists other personnel, as needed.
Job related experience is desired. Alcohol/Drug test, Pre-placement physical exam and Criminal Justice fingerprint/background clearance required.
Certificates and Licenses: Arizona School Bus Driver's Certificate, CPR/First Aid certiticate and a Commercial Drivers License-Class B with Passenger & Air Brake endorsements.
