Position Title: Machine Operator/ Programmer
Level: Machine Operator/ Programmer Level 1
Department: Fabrication
Reports to: Machine OperationsProduction Supervisor
Location: Bremerton
Shift: Day 5:00am – 3:30pm M-TH
Pay: $24.00 - $32.00 DOE
JOB SUMMARY:
Position is responsible for programming for the router machines, plate takes, router utilization metrics, assistance with material ordering and operating the router. Operator/Programmer works closely with router Lead and Supervisors, communicating with them daily.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs programming for all boat and misc. projects
- Generate nest sheets and provide to Router Lead
- Work with Supervisor and Leads to determine upcoming material order
- Logs completed hours information for each boat from nest sheets
- Create material issue report for each project and submit to accounting
- Works to schedule from Supervisor and standard work for position
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment and tools that improve workflow, efficiency, and team member safety. Drives and implements approved changes under the direction of the Supervisor/Manager.
- May set up and/or verify settings on router machines
- Communicates information effectively, timely, and accurately to Supervisor and Manager
- Communicates information effectively, timely, and accurately to team members
- Ensure quality and accuracy of team member’s work
- Works with Supervisor to systematically problem solve major issues
- Problem solves minor issues
- Assist in developing new procedures and standards
- Set example of safe work practices & follows all other SAFE Boats policies
- Operate router table as directed by Supervisor
- Works with engineering team to communicate and resolve issues regarding any issues with engineering deliverables in a professional and friendly manner
- Must be willing to occasionally work over 40 hours / week to meet the company needs
- May occasionally operate a CNC machine on a production basis
- Maintains records and other documentation supporting CNC programs, sequenced
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge in SBI operations practices
- Excellent computer skills
- Intermediate to advanced skill level in most complex tasks
- Works with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with their team members and other citizens of SAFE Boats
- Adheres to all procedures and safe work practices
- Assists in basic problem solving with less experienced team members
- Possess the ability to organize priorities and multitask accordingly.
Required Experience & Education:
- A minimum of one year of experience in a similar role
- Minimum of two years of experience working in a manufacturing/Machine Ops setting
- Requires a working knowledge in the usage of production machinery, common hand tools, handheld power tools and equipment
- Intermediate computer experience, preferably with some programming elements
- Requires good problem-solving skills to troubleshoot situations such defective parts, equipment or designs issued, tool and equipment problems, while maintaining productivity
- High School Diploma or GED; Vocational School, Technical School or Military Training or equivalent work experience
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
- Grasping, writing, reading, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, stooping, squatting, and stretching to complete tasks
- Listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
- Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces
- Forklift and scissor lift operations
- Ability or willingness to learn how to use a computer/tablet, telephone, and other office equipment, if assigned
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time (up to 10 hours)
