SalarySafeguard Chemical Corporation is looking for a Route Truck Driver / Order Picker to join our team in Mineola, NY. This is a union position.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a company provided box truck (or van) in an efficient and safe manner
- Pick orders from warehouse and load orders onto trucks for delivery
- Utilize route planning to determine the most efficient route to drive in order to make all deliveries as efficiently as possible while preserving fuel
- Deliver and properly unload product utilizing handcarts and/or pallet jacks to place product in customer’s designated delivery location(s)
- Communicate effectively with sales representatives and supervisors to resolve any problems that may arise (e.g. if a customer is unable to receive a delivery or pay for a delivery, call a supervisor to determine the proper course of action, etc.)
- Obtain required signatures for all deliveries
- Neatly complete logs and other paperwork
- Keep truck clean and organized
- Be respectful and courteous at all times when speaking with customers
- Be able to operate a forklift/pallet jack
- Re-stock inventory that was not delivered manually or with warehouse equipment
Required Experience: 1 year of experience of Route Truck driving OR 1 year of experience in a warehouse setting (picking orders, operating a forklift, etc.). Must be able to lift 50 pounds (max), be able to work on feet for long periods of time, bend, reach overhead, push/pull carts, and be able to work in hot/cold environment (outdoors). Must be able to read and write legibly in English.
