Our Parsippany Interstate Battery location is hiring an experienced Route Driver Manager to lead a team of 7 Route Delivery Drivers. The Driver Manager typically works Monday – Friday 6:30am-4pm.

About the position
The Driver Manager is responsible for supervising & mentoring a team of drivers to ensure all drivers are making their scheduled deliveries, are providing outrageous customer service, and are following all safety & compliance procedures. Our drivers are responsible for making up to 35 delivery stops per day and operate cargo vans, box trucks and Hino trucks. The Driver Manager will spend 50% of their week in the office and the other 50% on the road for driver ride-along, training new employees & customer visits.
As a leader, the Driver Manager is responsible for promoting a positive culture that aligns with our company values, hiring, coaching, training, performance management, & progressive discipline. In addition, the Driver Manager will partner closely with other Managers to help design, implement, and streamline processes.
Job Responsibilities
· Positively lead driver team and maintain high productivity by developing processes & procedures to achieve maximum potential
· Ensure drivers are making on time deliveries to meet customer expectations, following processes & procedures & adhering to safety & traffic rules
· Frequently review safe driver reports and address concerns right away
· Lead weekly department meetings to ensure team alignment & improve communication
· Maintain positive relationships with customers and proactively resolve potential issues
· Have knowledge about all battery products sold & customer requirements
· Train employees on battery products, delivery processes, use of technology, company processes and procedures and safety/compliance
· Employee management: weekly timecard review & approval, performance management, coaching & developing, interviewing & hiring, progressive discipline and quarterly & annual reviews
· Conduct periodic ride-along with drivers & fill in for drivers to run routes, when needed
· Ensure pre-trip & post-trip truck inspections are completed
· Partner with Accounts Receivable Department to collect payments upon delivery, as needed
· Ensure safe work environment and compliance with all regulatory requirements
Requirements
· 5+ years previous experience managing, coaching, & mentoring a team of 5+ people in similar industry (Wholesale, Distribution, Warehouse)
· 3+ years previous experience as Route Delivery Driver is highly preferred
· Clean driving record for previous 5 years
· Active medical DOT card, or can obtain one within 30 days of employment
· Ability to lift, carry and move 50+lbs
· Advanced technology/computer skills required including all Microsoft applications, routing software, handheld devices and more
· Ability to read, document, understand an interpret battery parts numbers
· Excellent communication & interpersonal skills re
· Meticulous attention to detail & highly organized
· Ability to pass pre-employment background checks including drug screenings
