Position Title and Summary

The Route Auditor will primarily focus on the identification of potential operational efficiencies and the implementation of new processes to improve performance. The duties and responsibilities are under the direction and supervision of the Operations Manager. Through the assignment of work activities and projects, will develop a working knowledge of the driver’s day-to-day hauling operations including but not limited to route auditing, analysis and improvement recommendations, safety rules and practices and the function and role of intra-company departments as it pertains to this business and long term goals (HR, Finance/Accounting and Customer Service). The position will be used to foster a strong succession plan and help prepare for front-line management roles.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the knowledge development and progressive understanding and expertise in route planning, auditing, analysis, improvement and related logistics systems
  • Rides along with drivers on routes to identify container, conditions, weight, size time, accessibility and risk on customer sites
  • Analyses the effectiveness of route sequencing, customer count integrity and customer data to increase route efficiency
  • Works with all departments to identify improvements that will aid in helping a route improve both efficiency and profitability. The departments may include Customer Service, Billing, Fleet, Operations and Sales, as well as fellow Route Auditors
  • Develops a working knowledge of operations, general business practices and applications (e.g., Safety, “Efficiency, Human Resources, Customer Service, TRUX, Finance and Accounting and Financial Planning). The target is to build a comprehensive understanding of how these functions contribute to the daily and long-term success of the employees and the company
  • Utilizes close interaction with front-line employees to reinforce the understanding and dedication to the drivers and identification of potential safety hazards
  • Attends driver safety meetings to promote a positive working relationship among all employees
  • Reviews customer account information for accuracy
  • Completes and submits daily, weekly, and monthly reports, as directed
  • Enhance the company’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Assist with other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications / Knowledge / Critical Skills

  • GIS experience preferred
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong organization, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Strong level of accountability
  • Essential to be detailed oriented
  • Upbeat and energized to complete tasks with a positive attitude
  • Must work well under pressure
  • Essential to learn and practice all safety procedures as safety is our highest value.
  • Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook Software Skills

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

  • Must have a valid driver’s license will be expected to do route observations (use a company pickup to observe drives while working) in addition to doing a ride-along with drivers
  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, and printers, light traffic)
  • Ability to work in a confined area
  • Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time
  • Must have a dedicated work ethic and flexibility to work as many hours as needed to get the job done
