Rolling Stock & Maintenance Ranch Hand

Reports to: General Manager                                        Employment: Full Time

GENERAL PURPOSE

 

This position will be responsible for maintenance and repair of  property and rollingstock. This position entails the upkeep of maintenance, repair, and tracking of the buildings, equipment, Rolling Stock and infrastructure at property. This position will report and coordinate with the Ranch’s General Manager. The ideal candidate should be well organized, and possess a “Team Player” attitude and must possess a self-motivated work ethic. It is imperative that they assure that all Ranch facilities are ready for owner and/or guest company and Ranch standards are met regarding quality, cleanliness, repair & safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Responsible for implementing and executing operations as set out by the General Manager

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

·         Strong people and communication skills.

·         Ability to operate and perform maintenance and repairs rollingstock (trucks equipment, trailers) chain saws, carts, buildings, and other Ranch facilities.

·         General handyman skills; including basic carpentry, plumbing, wiring, auto repair, fence building, painting, miscellaneous construction and maintenance

·         Proven experience with tools including automotive repair tools, shovel, rake, hammer, chainsaw, leaf blower, mower etc.

·         Experience or familiarity with machinery operation.

·         Ability to use common construction tools safely.

·         Experience with vehicle maintenance and tracking.

·         Experience with livestock and livestock operations helpful

·         Ability to use and create checklists.

·         Ability to work independently and unsupervised.

·         Self-Starter: will look for and perform work when none is assigned.

 

TASKS:

·         Survey and run Rolling Stock (trucks, autos, trailers, equipment) monthly, use and implement maintenance checklists

·         Grease, change oil, clean equipment

·         Detail (wash clean) over the road vehicles and collector cars  

·         Survey buildings and repair systems to ensure they are consistent with Ranch health and safety standards.

·         Perform and/or coordinate maintenance of buildings and special use facilities on the property.

·         Assist with special projects, remodels and new construction.

·         Maintain all equipment, appliances, and other like type devices.

·         Perform manual repairs of general property on ranch property when necessary (fix gates, maintain fencing, etc.).

·         Troubleshoot and perform irrigation repairs as needed.

·         Conduct general upkeep procedures and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.).

·         Ability to perform livestock chores including feeding and turning in/out sheep and chickens.

·         Manage vendor relations as applicable to this position.

·         Ensure Ranch facilities and systems including livestock facilities, barns, shop, employee housing and guest recreational facilities are well cared for, organized functionally operable.

·         Interpret company policies and provide a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with safety programs.

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

 

A valid driver’s license, clean record, insurable and will pass background check.

Able to travel to Canada (day trips to and from Canada)

Able to work a 40hr week, hours are generally Monday Through Friday 7 to 4; position is overtime eligible.

Ability to work Sundays on a rotating schedule

Additional consideration for active passport holder and ability to travel out of state.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, walking, digging and lifting up to 80 pounds. Ability to work outside in all types of weather, including rain, snow and sun.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

The Rolling Stock and Maintenance Ranch Hand position is regularly exposed to the following conditions:

·         Long working days.

·         Exposure to moving mechanical parts

·         Exposure to all weather conditions.

·         Exposure to toxic chemicals or irritants

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

 

Position: Full Time                                                                                           Base Pay: $20 - $28/hr DOE

Education: High school or equivalent (Required).  Combination of education and experience will be considered.

Work Location: Oso, WA
