On behalf of a client in the engineering industry, we are seeking a Roadway Inspector to play a crucial role in maintaining construction quality, ensuring project success, and contributing to the overall growth and excellence of the firm. The ideal candidate will possess a firm grasp of road work, sewer collection systems, and stormwater systems to effectively evaluate construction activities and ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct daily observation and quality assurance of civil infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to project specifications and standards
- Maintain understanding of contract documents, including measurement and payment provisions to contribute to accurate project progress assessments
- Utilize real-time data collection tools to document material and site conditions, providing accurate and up-to-date information
- Maintain meticulous records of daily as-built conditions and bid item quantities, facilitating contractor pay application reviews
- Prepare and submit daily inspection reports, documenting observations, test results, and any non-compliance issues
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to communicate project progress and address concerns
- Ensure strict adherence to contract documents controlling the scope of work, identifying any discrepancies or deviations from the agreed-upon specifications
Qualifications
Requirements for this position include the following:
- At least two years of experience in construction observation, demonstrating a solid foundation in civil infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of roadway construction processes, materials, and industry standards
- Valid driver's license
- DOTD certifications in Embankment Course, Asphalt Paving, and Structural Concrete are desirable but not mandatory
- Have reliable transportation to travel to and from project sites, ensuring timely and efficient project oversight
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and a drug test
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, including excellent record-keeping skills to maintain accurate and detailed records of daily construction activities
