GIS SUMMER INTERN
PART TIME TEMPORARY
Tuesday - Friday (8am to 4:30pm) 32 hours/week
PG - 99 ($15.00)

MAJOR FUNCTIONS
Perform a variety of duties to support Cartographer and GIS Technician in daily GIS related tasks.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
- Quality control/Quality Assurance of existing databases.
- Digitize point, line and polygon features from sources such as aerial photogrammetry, tabular datasets, among others using the latest GIS software tools and techniques.
- Use geo-referencing procedures to position scanned images and drawings, ensures the accuracy of GIS data by making modifications to the data as required.
- Research of land plats, surveys, right of way maps and other data sources.
- Assists with the preparation, production and distribution of maps, graphics, displays, and other related documents. Creates maps according to established county and industry standards and ensures all map elements are accurate and intelligible.
- Documenting workflows.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Organizational skills. File and retrieve records. Keep records organized for quick and efficient accessibility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a student currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Geography or a related field and must currently have Junior or higher standing.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students or minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students.
- Have experience creating maps in ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro and entering data into geodatabases.
- Experience with editing workflows and using extensions in ArcGIS Desktop.
- Experience with ArcGIS Desktop software and Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word and Excel).
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment within this classification should it be required by the assigned unit or office.
