Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for our Surgical Unit.

This is a full-time NIGHTSHIFT position with a shift differential to be added to base hourly pay.

As a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator with Sentara, you can excel in your career. There are many different specialties where you can perform and grow your nursing skills in areas of interest to you. This could be a promotional opportunity into leadership and advance your level of care in this Surgical Unit.
This 42-bed unit specializes in the care of Adult Surgical Patients. Registered Nurses are assigned to PODs to assist patients recovering from surgeries: Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow.
While working in this unit you can care for patients that may have renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure for a well-rounded nursing experience. This is a telemetry-monitored unit. The average patient stay is 3-4 days.

Job Summary
Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
18 months nursing experience required. BSN required; Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty.
Behavioral Health - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.
Emergency Care - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 90 days of hire.
BLS required within 90 days of hire. Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.

N-4YR - RN-Bachelor's Level Degree (Required), N-6YR - RN-Master's Level Degree (Required), N-DN - RN-Doctorate Level Degree (Required)
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA), Registered Nurse (RN) Single State - Nursing License - North Carolina, Registered Nurse (RN) Single State - Nursing License - Virginia, Registered Nurse License (RN) - Nursing License - Compact/Multi-State License
