Job Description for RN Supervisor
Requirements:
To qualify for the RN Supervisor position, the following requirements must be met:
- Must have graduated from a recognized nursing school.
- Must possess a current and valid RN license.
- Prior experience in long-term care is preferred, with 1-2 years of experience being ideal.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Must be in good physical and mental health.
- Must be capable of lifting weights of up to 40 pounds without assistance, among other physical demands.
- Proven ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must possess knowledge, training, and experience in general supervisory responsibilities.
Reporting:
The RN Supervisor will report to the Director of Nursing Services.
Job Duties:
The RN Supervisor will be responsible for the following duties:
- Complete the admission process for all new residents to the facility.
- Ensure medications ordered in the last 24 hours have been received from the pharmacy.
- Check all central lines and IV dressings for accuracy and completeness of dressing changes, and administer IV medications.
- Check sign-in sheets for accuracy and adjust staffing levels as necessary.
- Answer phones when available.
- Attend to employee call-offs, find replacement staff, and complete attendance reports.
- Monitor labs.
- Monitor daily input and output.
- Check medication rooms for cleanliness and complete clinical area sheets.
- Monitor emergency kits for usage and reorder supplies as necessary.
- Check oxygen tanks for security.
- Check oxygen tubing and humidifiers for dates.
- Supervise lunch and check trays for accuracy of diet, timelines, and temperature.
- Oversee discharge process.
- Provide hands-on resident care when needed, such as answering call lights or assisting with positioning.
- Perform rounds to check positioning, devices, skin condition, oral care, grooming, and call light accessibility.
- Address resident and family concerns.
- Monitor 24-hour report log.
- Ensure building security compliance is in effect.
- Greet and assist physicians upon arrival.
- Give oral warnings as needed and communicate them to the Director of Nursing Services.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator.
