The Registered Nurse is responsible for supporting and maintaining the clinical practice by upholding established policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, and safety. Coordinates with other clinical team members, physicians, and physician assistants to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- The Registered Nurse has the responsibility to carry out duties as directed by surgeons.
- Communicates on a regular basis with the designated supervisors
- Follows and always maintains patient confidentiality appropriate with HIPAA compliance standards.
- Consults and coordinates with health care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans utilizing research, clinical experience, and client history.
- Performs comprehensive patient care and assessment including but not limited to pre- and post-operative evaluation, medical history review, medication reconciliation and administration, and other patient care duties as needed.
- Functions as preoperative nurse, intraoperative circulating nurse, post anesthesia care nurse, and clinical nurse as needed for efficient patient care and flow of practice.
- Maintains accurate, detailed patient records by ensuring Operating Room documentation is appropriately completed and input into patients’ medical records.
- Assist physicians during in-office procedures as needed
- Conducts pre-op phone calls for patients having surgery in office Operating Room.
- Participates in cleaning/turning over the office Operating Room after surgical cases.
- Participates in cleaning and appropriate care of procedure devices.
- Performs nurse to nurse narcotic counts daily as assigned by OR Manager.
- Ensures that stock levels for the Operating Room, pre-operating area, post anesthesia care unit, and clinical area are at appropriate par levels and initiates communication to Purchasing Coordinator as needed. This includes, but is not limited to anesthesia supplies, narcotic drugs, other drugs, and all other supplies necessary to operate these areas.
- Performs patient care procedures under the supervision of attending physician to include, but not limited to Profound, Viveve, Fraxel, etc.
- Oversees general operational flow of OR staffing and cases to include daily assignments, breaks, lunches, and physician chaperones.
- Maintains AAAASF certification for the office Operating Room by assisting with any projects that are necessary to complete for this certification.
- Assists scrub tech and Physicians Assistant’s with ensuring that specific instruments are available for offsite surgeries and coordinates delivery and return of said instruments.
- Coordinates utilization of any outside resources, testing, counseling, referrals, etc. for complete patient care.
- Accesses hospital information systems as needed to obtain necessary patient information.
- Attends training sessions as needed to increase knowledge base and skill level.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors and physicians
Requirements:
- Associate Degree in nursing necessary; Bachelor’s in nursing preferred
- 1-2 years of related clinical experience; pre-op/Nurse circulator preferred
- ACLS/BLS certified
