Registered Nurse (RN) Full Time, Nights Position in the Obstetrics Unit at Northwest Health - Porter Hospital

  • Full time: 36 hours per week, 12 hour shifts
  • Hours: 7p-7a
  • Eligible for shift differential
  • Eligible for health benefits, which can include your spouse and/or children

About this unit:

Porter is a Level III Obstetrical Service and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which certifies that the hospital is capable of providing specialty management of severe maternal/fetal complications.

Porter is pleased to offer Northwest Indiana's first 24/7 OB emergency department (OB ED). This service enhances patient safety and care by ensuring that a board-certified physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. Nurses in this unit can expect to care for patients experiencing the following:

  • Concern about pre-term labor
  • Pelvic pain
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • Urological conditions, such as bladder infections or urinary tract infections
  • Conditions related to high-risk pregnancy (example: high blood pressure)

OB works closely with L&D, PEDs, and Postpartum units. Candidates should expect to float to these units as needed and maintain the skills necessary to work in each area.

Education:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) required, BSN preferred.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Current unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of Indiana
  • Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) Certification.
  • Maintain N.R.P. Certification.
  • Fetal monitoring education upon completion of orientation.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in maternal services preferred.
