Summary
The Nurse Manager is responsible for and performs line management functions for the assigned area. Demonstrates responsibility for the overall fiscal management of the department, conducts and manages performance improvement activities, develops and monitors departmental policies and procedures, acts as a Chief Retention Officer, and performs human resource functions. Provides leadership to the unit aligned with Peake of Care and Relationship Based Care principles. Leads unit culture and functions in keeping with the organizational and nursing mission, vision, and values.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Reports to: Director of Nursing for assigned units
Supervises: Unit staff
Responsibilities: Management of unit performance and personnel.

Education and Experience
Minimum Required Education: BSN degree
Minimum Experience: 2+ years experience in specialized area with Charge Nurse or equivalent experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Minimum Required:
Applicant must be licensed to work as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact state. Must have clinical certification appropriate for care area and/or nurse leader/executive certification or obtain within one year of hire.
Must maintain BLS. Other certifications as required of nurses working in the clinical area assigned.
