$35.50/hr minimum - $55.22/hr maximum (range increases based on education, experience and certifications)
Responsible for ensuring day to day excellence in delivery of care in each of the Maternal Child departments, that is based on current evidence and is focused on quality and safety by providing advanced support to the clinical caregivers.
Responsibilities:
  • Safety
  • Manages processes effectively in regard to patient and employee safety.
  • Ensures huddles, debriefs, and key communications reach all staff and support them through application to their individual nursing practice.
  • Coaches staff and redirects as necessary to increase clinician knowledge and comfort in care delivery
  • Record Keeping
  • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required, including but not limited to staffing and patient reassignments.
  • Exhibit proficiency in SIH decision support programs such as API, etc and is able to support clinicians in proper record keeping of their hours worked, appropriate cost center allocation, and individual requests for ETO utilization
  • Department Support
  • Maintains accountability for making independent decisions to ensure quality patient care delivery within the guidelines of professional organizations.
  • Share advanced knowledge of Epic processes with clinicians, support to resolve questions and challenges in the moment or escalate to appropriate department for further assessment and resolution.
  • Resolve peer to peer conflict in a constructive and supportive manner
  • Facilitate Debriefings as indicated, ensuring environment remains non-punitive and promotes learning and improvement.
  • Process Improvement
  • Promotes a culture of process improvement by collecting unit/department based program data that supports the system’s process improvement goals.
  • Staffing
  • At least one person from leadership will be present throughout the 24/7/365. Leaders will work together to assure presence and support for staff and patients.
  • Makes staff assignments and duties which ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Reassigns staff effectively and in accordance with professional standards & SIH budget allocations.
  • Monitors workload and proficiency, supports clinicians in managing patient care throughout the shift.
  • Ensures good stewardship, reflective of SIH leadership values and vision for maternal-child health.
  • Role Specific Responsibilities
    • Supports shift staff to ensure care delivery meets patient acuity needs.
    • Assists staff to meet increasing volume or acuity situations by taking on patient care when necessary
    • Rounds on patients to identify service recovery opportunities and initiate activity. Also identify positive feedback and share with specific staff, communicate both positive and negative comments to unit management.
    • Maintains situational awareness across all of maternal-child nursing units, flexes staff and self to maintain safe patient care.
    • Initiate, lead or partner on process improvement or change management initiative.
    • Facilitate communication translation from staff and physicians to leadership and from leadership to staff and physicians.
    • Facilitate closed loop communication on any and all patient, staff or physician concern, needs, opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • Current Illinois RN License
  • BLS
  • Maternal-Child specific certifications: ACLS, NRP, STABLE, PALS
