1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.
Caring for Critical Care patients including vents, titrating hemodynamic drips, central lines. Respiratory failure, DKA, cardiac patients.
2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
EPIC electronic charting. Pyxis med and supply stations.
3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
Critical care experience - 2 years
4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
ACLS. BLS, IL RN license
5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
12 hour shifts, 3 days per week. Every other weekend.
6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)
If floated it would be to task in ED or occasional med/surg floors. Taking a patient assignment while floated would not be expected.
7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.
14 bed Critical Care with progressive care patients.
8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)
1;2 or 1;3 if progressive care patients
9. Dress Code:
Navy blue scrubs
10. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.
Orientation with current Critical Care RN for 2 shifts. Site specific checklist with education.
