Job description

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Provides expert obstetrics care, education, financial navigation to expectant parents, under the direction of SPHMG FP/ OB providers. Must possess exceptional interpersonal, educational and training ability. Must be able to be able to use critical thinking and leadership skills to prioritize needs this demographic group to optimize overall patient experience. Must be able to build a well-trained, clinically competent and positive program for OB patients, supporting physician schedules. Must maintain staff competency documentation and complies with HR to assure policies and procedures are maintained in the workforce. Must possess exceptional organizational skills. Must assure that patients are appropriately educated and scheduled for procedures as necessary. Assist and train staff to support physician in-office procedures. Required to accommodate for and attend 80% of all scheduled meetings.

Leading and developing care team to positive pregnancy outcomes:

  • Provide new OB education
  • Provide with community resources
  • Schedules and does 1 st OB / confirmation of pregnancy
  • Scheduling of inductions and c-sections
  • Preparing charts for WAC at 20 and 36 weeks
  • Follow up, either in person or via phone, at 2 weeks post-partum
  • Complete OB chart
  • Develop and teach prenatal classes

Assisting OB patient / family in navigating community resources, labor and delivery and post-partum care:

  • Perform Non- Stress Testing (NST)
  • Develop individualized Pregancy Care Plan
  • Determine Financial needs _ i.e., Medicaid, self-pay, etc. and potentially connect with Financial Advocate
  • Provide with community resources
  • Provide Diabetes and Nutrition education, as necessary
  • Track and report FP / OB Quality metrics
  • Act as a liaison between clinics and WAC

Develop, manage / monitor, review, and create interventions based on predetermined quality metrics:

  • Develop OB packets
  • Make sure proper dental care is happening
  • Identify gaps in care
  • SBIRT super-user
  • Act as staff support for OB questions / education

Connecting team-based care culture to entire health system:

  • Coordinate high risk care with MFM
  • Work closely with Population Health team to lead FP / OB Quality initiatives

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE : Must possess a passion for prenatal care, as well as 2+ years’ experience in this field. Sufficient experience to demonstrate ability to assist in the organization, train and educate a workforce of clinical and non-clinical staff preferred. Must have experience in overseeing department or unit operations successfully preferred. Possesses the clinical expertise and experience to manage a clinic operation preferred. Must demonstrate maturity in judgment, demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to oversee multiple physician practices or related experience preferred.

EDUCATION : Current Montana License as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS, certifications. BSN Preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY : Current Montana State Board of Nursing licensure as an RN. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification and re-certification every two years.

Aptitudes : Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments.
