Job description

JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: Performs accurate analysis and effective diagnosis of BRGMC and System clinical and operational issues. Job is performed appropriately for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Employee demonstrates the use of proper safety techniques, equipment and devices and follows safety policies, procedures and plans.

JOB FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

1. Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the National Quality Indicators relevant to the organization and the documentation requirements that would meet abstraction guidelines.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Understands current requirements for each Core Measure and the specifics on indicators.
Stays abreast of new / revised indicator requirements.
Serves as an expert consultant to departments and/or clinical staff regarding core measure indicators and requirements.


2. Ensures compliance with National Quality Indicators through concurrent and retrospective review and actions.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Identifies patients that meet the criteria to receive evidence-based care as outlined in the national quality indicators.
Concurrently reviews the documentation and / or practice that would meet the requirements for compliance with the abstraction of national quality indicators.
Works collaboratively and in direct communication with the nursing and medical staff to ensure that all elements of the core measures are met.

3. Serves as an expert clinical consultant on the National Quality Indicators.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Educates the nursing and/or medical staff regarding the requirements for the core measures.
Answers questions, meets with nursing staff, medical staff as needed to facilitate an understanding and compliance with the core measures.

4. Partners with Clinical Informatics to accelerate compliance with Meaningful Use and promote accurate electronic submission of core measure data.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Develops proficiency with clinical documentation systems, as well as the ability to create and run reports from these systems.
Works collaboratively with Clinical Informatics to ensure electronic documentation meets current standards and best practice.


5. All other duties as assigned.

HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Paper and electronic medical records without limitation, patient demographics, lab and radiology results, surgery/appointment schedules, medical records related to quality/data, patient financial, 3rd party billing information, patients related complaints, information related to patient location, research information, investigatory information, and/or access to physician specific data related to outcomes.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Incident reporting, exposure control plans, hand washing, environmental rounds to ensure safety, and patient identification.
