Summary
The successful implementation and maintenance of the Cerner EHR system and future solutions and technology will require an expert analyst with broad knowledge of both the clinical and business applications of the system. The Informaticist will be required to assist hospital leaders, end users, and other members of the EHR team in maintaining the system, problem solving, education and training of both incumbent and new staff, testing and implementation of fixes, and evaluating and planning for the installation and integration of new technology.
The Clinical Informaticist will thrive both in an independent and team environment. They must be able to take ownership of tasks and complete those tasks accurately and efficiently. They must also be able to work with various internal groups and teams and have the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous project tasks and deadlines in an implementation and production environment. They must be able to serve as a resource to others where their knowledge or skills are helpful. They must work with all departments, vendors and project teams to implement and maintain a high quality, process driven solution that meets the process and technology requirements for USPI surgical hospitals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Job Duties
Monitor documentation and departmental processes to ensure compliance and billing accuracy
Through reporting identify users in need of further training/education
Monitor use of preference cards for efficiency in inventory and documentation and ensure continuing regular review and accuracy
Provide necessary hands on support to end users
Assist in the development of education and new personnel orientation, FAQs, address questions, changes, and facilitate growth and learning within clinical departments
Present education or address questions and issues during department staff meetings
Assist with the testing of new Cerner functionality or fixes
Ensure issues follow the appropriate chain of problem solving and are logged as a Cerner Service Request (SR) if an actual system issue
Assist other Cerner analysts with Service Requests (SRs) for problem solving or change requests for system issues
Provide support and trouble shoot issues with home office EHR team and other facilities
Be on call to support end users as needed
Attend educational and training events as needed
Provide remote or onsite support for home office or other facilities as needed by maintaining personal networks developed through training and conversion
Ensures end users operate hardware and equipment safely and properly by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, evaluating and testing new equipment
Monitor and evaluate the specifying user level of access and role within the system
Provide key support to the home office or other facilities with effective communication to the end user of expectations of documentation in the system, coaching, counseling, testing systems, policies, and procedures
Education
Required: Nursing Degree required; current Registered Nurse in Texas
ExperienceRequired: Two years clinical experience; strong technology skills and working knowledge of hospital processes; excellent written and oral communication skills; outstanding customer service skills
