Our Team
The Elfers Cardiovascular Center is located on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital main campus (2014 Washington Street, 2nd floor, in Newton, MA). Our team provides a wide range of outpatient care for patients who have a high risk of heart disease. We provide diagnosis, management of acute and chronic conditions, and preventive care.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour remote Triage RN to support our cardiology practice Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm or 8:30am to 5:00pm. This position is 100% remote, with the possibility of on-site meetings. There is also flexibility to work from our offsite location in Newton if interested!
Primarily focused on Phone Triage, the RN will handle patient interactions via telephone and provide guidance in accordance with guidelines/protocols - all within a clinically appropriate scope. As the majority of this role is telephone and Internet/EMR based, the triage RN will work with all patients and clinicians of the entire practice regardless of the location in which the providers see the patient's.
Responsibilities
In collaboration with the physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical and office staff members, the Triage RN is responsible for the provision of direct and indirect nursing care including physical, psychological and social assessment which requires nursing judgement, intervention, referral or follow up, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, planning and restoration for optimal functioning and comfort of the patients we serve. This position requires a high degree of flexibility, independence, critical thinking and willingness to collaborate with patients and families to enhance the delivery of patient care services across the continuum of care.
Responsibilities may Include:
- Triage RN to work closely with Providers: MD/NP/PA and Practice Manager in a busy Primary Care.
- Triage patient calls, assess nature of patient need and develop plan of care as result of the assessment.
- Patient education, post hospitalization follow-up. May include clinical guidance and support to MA and LPN staff.
- Occ hands on clinical support possible but primarily Phone Triage and patient care.
- Participates in departmental QI endeavors.
- Will manage triage care from the practice alternating with centralized call center

- Graduate of an approved school of nursing
- Current Massachusetts RN licensure
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience
- Cardiology experience preferred
- Ambulatory Phone Triage experience preferred
- Epic proficiency preferred
