Job description

Position Summary: The RN is responsible for the complete Nursing Process for our patients. The RN performs responsibilities in the areas of clinician, teacher, researcher, and leader. Understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of the TBI/ SCI patient and family in regard to all aspects of their care. Assimilates contributions of the interdisciplinary team to assure the best possible outcomes are achieved. Maintains professional relationships at all times.
Position Requirements:
  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Current Colorado RN license and current BLS for the Health Care Provider certification required. ACLS and specialty certification (CNRN or CRRN) preferred.
  • Education: Graduate of a nursing program from an accredited college or university required. Graduate of a CCNE or NLNAC accredited school of nursing preferred; BSN required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 Year RN Experience preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures in neuro-science and acute med/surg in the rehabilitation setting strongly preferred. Ability to assess patient and family needs and coordinate appropriate nursing plan of care. Knowledge of patient safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated with a positive attitude.

Essential Functions:
  • Practice according to the ANA Code of Ethics and within scope of an RN according to Colorado Nurse Practice Act.
  • Demonstrate competency in time management, organization, prioritization & critical thinking by planning and organizing work assignments and prioritizing the specific needs of the patients.
  • Utilize a consistent, patient-focused care approach to meet patient needs and demonstrate initiatives to utilize a holistic approach to identify patient needs.
  • Utilize analytical skills and advanced assessment skills necessary to assess a patient's condition and utilize that data through the nursing process and clinical judgment to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Safely administer medications following the 5 Rights of Medication Administration and policy/procedure. Report errors, near misses or adverse drug reactions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepare and maintain a record of observations and care given. Document information clearly and completely utilizing correct forms and in a timely manner according to hospital policy.
  • Coordinate nursing care activities in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to facilitate achievement of overall goals.
  • Use Standards of Care and hospital policies/procedures to guide practice.
  • Use body, tools, or special devises to safely, effectively, and efficiently to move, guide, or place patients. Involve some latitude for judgment with regard to precision attained and the selection of what adaptive devise(s) to utilize.
  • Educate and prepare the patient/family for future self-management by facilitating patient movement from passive to an active partnership and eventual to a personal self-care expert.

Salary Range: $35.17 - $50.64 + Shift Differentials
