FirstLight Power is looking for innovative, collaborative, and team-oriented SUMMER TEMPs to join our talented and dynamic team of individuals working to decarbonize the grid and accelerate the clean energy transformation.
We are hiring Riverboat Narratorsto join our Recreation team for this seasonal position in Northfield, MA.
TRAINING IS PROVIDED
This is a FULL-TIME TEMPORARY position from June 10-October 14, 2024
(start and end dates can be somewhat flexible)
Schedule: Wednesday-Sunday
Hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Recreation and Programming, the Riverboat Narrator will provide an educational history to passengers of all ages aboard the pontoon boat tour on the Connecticut River. Will also provide school programming for children and support the captain.
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

• Facilitate pleasant customer interactions and ensure customer satisfaction and safety at all times;
• Perform safety training to customers;
• Conduct narration aboard the riverboat for passengers;
• Provide educational programming to school groups;
• Serve as host aboard charters and special cruises;
• Perform daily cleaning duties on the boat;
• Assist the captain with operational duties;
• Assist with fueling the boat;
• Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
• Comply with FirstLight policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications / Skills

• High School diploma or equivalent; may consider diploma in progress;
• Natural history interpretation or teaching experience, preferred;
• Knowledge of the Connecticut River or river ecology desired;
• Experience with children' programming is a plus;
• Strong public speaking skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Pleasant personality and ability to work with large groups of people in a busy environment;
• Strong reading and writing skills and ability interpret and follow strict safety procedures;
• Ability to meet highest attendance requirements;
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays;
• Strong teamwork experience;
• First Aid and CPR certification, will train if necessary;
• Valid, clean MA driver's license.

Physical Requirements

• Will be exposed to a variety of weather conditions such as rain and heat;
• Ability to be physically mobile and able to secure boat to dock as well as frequently stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch and sit for prolonged periods;
• Must be able to walk up and down flights of stairs, ladders, and ramps, balance, work on uneven surfaces, work in close quarters and carry up to 40 lbs.
