NOCO has made significant investments in sustainable lines of business and is looking for an enthusiastic operations manager to facilitate our operations.
This is an exciting new role on a dynamic team that has the potential for growth. Our sustainable lines of business are currently in a growth trajectory and as such the right candidate for this role will be dynamic and willing to adapt to the changing needs of our team. Becoming familiar with these operations will evolve over time.
Our four primary investments are Buffalo River Compost, Stratium (formerly River Road Research) and two additional acquisitions in the composting and wood waste sector.
What You Will Do
Our patented black soldier fly technology turns food waste into a premium ingredient for animal feeds. In this role you will be primarily working with our scientific staff to increase production and streamline processes at our facility in Lockport, New York.
- Learn and implement a facility management program including preventative maintenance of existing facilities and soldier fly life-cycle requirements
- Allocate and manage facility space for maximum space and energy efficiency
- Coordinate intra-office moves, moving logistics anticipated
- Supervise maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment
- Plan & integrate facility refurbishment and renovations – 2023 and beyond
- Implement best practice processes to increase pilot lab efficiencies
- Manage existing contractor and vendor relationships
- Ensure delivery schedules, quantity and quality criteria are met
- Performance assessments - manage, develop and train staff
- Respond to facility and equipment alarms and system failures
Buffalo River Compost – Ops, Education and Community Engagement
- Assist with compost product and Quality Control on site
- Becoming familiar with operations in turning, screening, production & monitoring raw ingredients and mature products
- Help develop relationships with vendors whose materials are desired on site
- Identify areas to streamline operations
Mulch Operation - Truck hauling, large equipment operations and carbon management
- Become familiar with operations
- Assist with machine and heavy equipment operating – training to be provided
- Monitor of compost quality and record keeping of the entire process
- Streamline site operations with Brian and Alistair assistance
Bagging Operation – Provides bagging support for TEND products/Commercial Projects
- Understand operations of site to be able in integrate or teach individuals the system
- Assist with compost bagging operations
- Assist with silt sock order fulfillment, mulch operations
- Monitor BRC material on site to ensure QC and consistent product

What You Will Need
- Associate's Degree in Operations Management or related field required
- Minimum five years of relevant work experience in operations or facility management
- A high-energy, creative approach to problem-solving, strong analytical skills, and be a team player with solid leadership skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills both one-on-one and in speaking before a group
- Strength in initiative-taking and a demonstrated track record in proactively identifying improvement opportunities and acting upon them
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks demanding immediate attention and to juggle multiple, ongoing, concurrent responsibilities
- Ability to work efficiently and maximize productivity
- Commitment to integrity and ethical behavior and the proven ability to maintain confidentiality
- Competency in Microsoft Office
