Risk Manager/Infection Preventionist
Responsible for overseeing Corporate Compliance, Quality Assurance, HIPAA, Infection Prevention and all other related compliance issues to promote the well-being and high quality care of the residents.
Shift: Generally Day shift, Mon ? Fri; must be willing to work into evenings/weekends when the need arises
Status: Full Time, non-exempt, limited to 40 hours/week for Risk Manager/IPC role. Ability to pick up overtime in other nursing roles, such as Staff Nurse or Shift Supervisor.
Department: Risk Management/Quality Assurance
Role Responsibilities:
- Assume all responsibility, and accountability for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and directing the quality assurance and assessment program designed to enhance the quality of resident care, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern nursing care facilities.
- Direct and execute the Risk Management Program, which includes analysis and investigation of incidents and events, Root Cause Analysis, proactive risk assessment, and event prevention.
- Coordinate all the activities of Corporate Compliance, HIPAA, and Quality Assurance with the Head of Departments and Nurse Managers to integrate the functions, procedures, and policies.
- Act as a liaison between various departments in implementing policies, procedures, job descriptions, and new services or programs.
- Review the facility's quality measures and recommends strategies in addressing deficient areas. Facilitates implementation of the Plan of Correction (POC) for the facility. Assist in developing follow-up procedures for monitoring identified problem areas.
- Audits care plans and other auditing responsibilities. Plans and oversees mock surveys.
- Works in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, and reports jointly to the Administrator.
Qualified candidates will have:
- Currently licensed Nurse (RN) preferred
- At least two years' knowledge of organizational and departmental functions of LTC.
- Familiarity with NYS public health laws and federal regulations relating to LTC facilities.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of position.
- Must possess the ability to communicate tactfully & effectively.
- Must possess leadership skills and be a team player.
