Risk Control Consultant

Job Description

BITCO Corporation, headquartered in Davenport, Iowa, is seeking a Risk Control Consultantlocated in or near Southern Illinois. BITCO provides quality property and casualty insurance services to specialized industries including oil & gas, construction, and forest products. This is a remote position with some overnight travel to customer locations and worksites.

 

Position Summary:

As part of the Risk Control team, this position will provide Risk Control services primarily to upstream oil & gas BITCO customers in the following territory: southern Illinois, southern Indiana and western Kentucky.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Evaluate exposure and exposure controls for current and prospective customers focusing on Workers' Compensation, General Liability, and Commercial Auto lines
• Identify and recommend risk improvements
• Prepare various Risk Control reports utilizing Risk Control Technology (RCT) software and Microsoft Office 365 Pro-Plus
• Conduct occasional safety meetings / training for customers
• Utilize product line expertise to ensure good loss experience outcomes
• Foster new business development through quality agency relationships, effective customer interactions, and interaction with local oil & gas and construction associations
• Fleet telematics and dash camera data trending and driver coaching
• DOT file reviews, CAB Report and FMCSA SMS report trending
• Help to mentor, train, and fill in for team members as needed
• Other responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field preferred
• 5+ years of experience as a Risk Control Consultant/Loss Control Consultant with experience in the areas of Oil & Gas, Commercial Construction, and Public Entities.
• Professional safety certification (CSP, ARM, or other) preferred; or willingness to obtain
• OSHA/MSHA/DOT knowledge preferred
• Progressive working knowledge of customer safety programs, state and federal regulations, and general insurance and policy terms
• Good communication and mentoring skills; ability to convey knowledge to others
• Ability to develop and maintain good customer relations
• Effectively communicate in person, by telephone, text and email with supervisors, co-workers, customers and their representatives, and other third parties
• Familiar with RCT software and Microsoft Office 365 Pro-Plus
• Ability to drive, routinely bend, kneel, reach, climb, and walk around to evaluate customer job sites and machinery

 

Salary Range:  $60,000-$100,000, commensurate with experience.
