Overview
The HarperCollins’ Children’s Division is currently seeking a Rights Coordinator to join the Subsidiary Rights Department. The Rights Coordinator will report directly into theAssociate Director, Subrights.
This is a hybrid position based out of our New York City office.
Responsibilities
- Provides support to the Senior Director, Associate Director, and Manager, Rights.
Handles translation licensing in several foreign markets under the supervision of Associate Director, Rights.
Submits projects published by HarperCollins global offices, including providing submission materials, tracking interest and approvals, and supplying production materials.
Provides administrative support for the subsidiary rights department, including but not limited to creating invoices for payments, tracking contracts, and physical mailing of submissions.
Submits materials for review to publishers, agents, and scouts.
Sends email updates to publishers, agents, and scouts on books that win awards, receive media attention, or hit best-seller lists.
Attends one international book fair.
Helps department prepare for book fairs, including handling department schedules and gathering materials.
Assists with special projects for the Subrights department as needed.
Qualifications
- 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
1-2 years of work experience required, prior experience within publishing and subsidiary rights preferred
A strong interest in Children’s Book publishing, preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills required
Must be flexible, self-motivated, and a team player
Must be detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to set priorities under pressure
Excellent presentation skills, a must

The salary for this position is $50,700. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
