Overview
HarperCollins is seeking a Rights Assistant! This is an exciting opportunity to join an expansive, vibrant Children’s rights program. The position reports to the Associate Director, Subsidiary Rights and affords an opportunity to gain entry into the field of domestic licensing and book publishing.
This is a hybrid position based out of our New York office.
Responsibilities
- Handles all cover art sublicensing.
Provides support for live-stage sublicensing requests.
Provides audio sublicensing support.
Assists Associate Director/Associate with pitch materials, grids, pitches, and research.
Coordinates invoicing for files, including sending files and troubleshoot any file-related issues.
Prepares presentations and marketing updates and participates in pitches for Book Club licensing.
Supports Associate Director/Associate with tracking interest, submissions, and new partnership outreach.
Qualifications
- 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
Prior experience in publishing or subsidiary rights preferred but not required
Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize a large volume of work
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to set priorities under pressure and work independently
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
Passionate about learning the business-side of the publishing industry
Strong interest in Children's Books and Subsidiary Rights a plus!

The salary for this position is $48,500. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
