AFRL/RI in Rome, NY is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Mathematician for UAS tracking data analysis. Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS) and UAS Traffic Management (UTM) is a fast moving technical field that is experiencing an evolution in how airspace activity is monitored and managed. Fundamental capabilities that enable systems to find small, slow moving UAS is in important part of securing our nation against rapidly evolving UAS threats around the world.
CUAS and UTM represent growing technical areas that provide rewarding opportunities to develop needed concepts and prototypes in support of the National Defense Strategy, with opportunities to work with operational Units in the United States Air Force (USAF) and the United Stated Space Force (USSF).
Position duties include but not limited to:

• Data analytics on real and simulated UAS tracking to develop and experiment with state of the art algorithms and sensors.
• Design and simulation of modified or new methods for low latency analysis of raw and processed UAS tracking data
• Lead a small team of multidisciplinary engineers to prove in simulation or with prototypes new methods to analyze and validate UAS tracks
• Develop prove and teach new methods to team members and technical leadership
• Support test events, foreign ally collaboration and Technical exchange with senior technical leadershi
• Lead team projects through compliance and policy processes including test planning and approvals

Required Qualifications

• United States Citizenship
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a top secret security clearance
• Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited degree program in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related field
• This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing
• S&E candidates must possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree from an ABET accredited academic institution
• This is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position that requires Practitioner Level certification in Engineering & Technology Management (ETM). The selectee will have two years to meet APDP requirements
• Eligibility: Candidates with 1 year of specialized experience equal to the DR-I, or equivalent, or having an advanced degree, can qualify as a DR-II. Specialized Experience is experience directly related to the position that was performed at a level equivalent to the grade directly below the position
