Job description

Peraton is seeking a Rich Media Engineer to work primarily in our DC Office. The Rich Media Engineer will be able to design, implement and operationally support digital media infrastructure projects utilizing the breadth of Cisco Unified Communications devices including Video Teleconferencing, WebEx, and Jabber.   Strong knowledge of WebEx host administration and WebEx Control Hub, Multi-vendor collaboration space setup and configuration. In addition, the Rich Media Engineer will perform Project Management functions to include the development of a project plan in compliance with the customer’s SDLCM. Work to collect requirements from the diverse customer base, perform the appropriate analysis, develop the strategic roadmap, and all associated documentation.  Off-hours work may be required.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Provide a high level of technical understanding for problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Interact with Hardware and Software vendors to address issues when necessary
  • Use escalation standards and personal judgment to ensure timely resolution of problems
  • Provide training and support to employees when necessary
  • Accept and resolve escalated trouble tickets from Service Desk
  • On-site support as well On-Call shift rotations with other members of the department
  • Deployment and troubleshooting of VTC equipment such as Cisco VTC equipment
  • Deployment and troubleshooting of Rich Media tools and hardware – Jabber, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Unified Communications Manager, WebEx Control Hub, VQ Conference Manager, Cisco Meeting Server, digital signage.

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, or Computer Science required, high school degree and 9 years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • At least five (5) years experience working in the audio/video teleconferencing /communications/cable/IT industry required
  • CCT Certification is preferred
  • Experience with Cisco VTC hardware and software (Cisco Telepresence, WebEx, Jabber)
  • Experience with Windows, Windows Server, Linux and Unix (Solaris) OS
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and VLANs
  • Understanding of IP services (DHCP, TFTP and DNS
  • Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical executives and managers
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust - Moderate Risk security clearance
  • United States Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Organizational Skills (ability to organize large amounts of data in a logical manner)
  • Excellent Troubleshooting Skills and usage of tools such as ping, telnet and trace route
  • Excellent documentation skills are required
  • Competent administrator of mixed-technology solutions
  • Act as part of a structured operations team in support of resolving technical issues
  • Availability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during off-work hours and/or extended hours when outages or projects required 

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in a fast-paced Information Technology environment
  • Ability to lift or transport items weighing up to 40 lbs.
