Pay Range:
$30.25-$45.55 Hourly
Wage offered depends on job-related experience, knowledge, and skills.
Position Overview:
The Revenue Cycle Informatics Specialist shall act as a liaison between the Revenue Cycle areas, the Information Technology Department, the Epic application and integrated third party revenue cycle-specific service providers/vendors. This position shall lead and/or participate in projects and tasks associated with the evaluation, selection, implementation, and optimization of systems and interfaces related to revenue cycle. This position will collaborate with our internal teams at Pullman Regional and external service providers/vendors. This position shall lead and/or assist in completion of special projects in the Revenue Integrity department. This individual will be required to fully understand and support the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Themes of Pullman Regional. The successful candidate will embrace a team-approach to problem-solving and accountability, have critical thinking skills, have excellent organizational skills, be able to successfully work independently and in groups, and effectively communicate with a diverse population with varying skillsets and knowledge.
Required Education, Licensure, Certifications, and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • EPIC SBO, HB, and some PB experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in revenue cycle operations (registration, charge capture, referrals and authorizations, coding, billing, etc.).
  • Relevant coding-related certification or willingness to obtain within 2 years or hire date.

  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues and both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to manage time, tasks, and resources appropriately.
  • Ability to create professional written communication (i.e. letters, memos, job aids, etc.)
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis [RCA], gather and summarize data, and validate regulatory and contractual requirements pertaining to the identified problem.
  • Ability to track, trend, analyze, and report data as needed for business operations, training, reporting, and/or compliance purposes.
  • Ability to produce reports and maintain data integrity. Ability to modify, filter, and present reports as needed for operational use and end-user comprehension.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Systems, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of people and teams.

Preferred Education, Certifications, and Experience:
  • Experience providing education and training to healthcare staff and providers.
  • Experience working as Super-User or E.H.R. trainer for revenue cycle functions.
  • Coding-related certification (i.e. through AHIMA, AAPC, or other approved, accrediting body)
  • Experience acting as a liaison between service areas, IT/IS, and/or RCM vendors.
  • Experience performing documentation, coding, and/or billing reviews and/or audits.
  • Experience in CDM maintenance, including familiarity with pricing structures (APC, Cost, DRG, Fee-for Service, etc.) validating CPT, HCPCs, revenue codes, modifier usage, NCCI edits, and/or creating code sets.
  • Experience implementing, measuring, monitoring, and adjusting operational workflows to adhere to regulatory compliance requirements.

About the Team:
The Revenue Integrity Department is a small, recently-developed team that supports revenue cycle and revenue-generating departments in relation to revenue cycle operations (i.e. charge capture, billing and coding functions, registration, management of CDM, and data analysis). Our focus is on fiscal health, compliance, and system optimization. Essential Functions:
  • Act as the liaison between revenue cycle departments and IT/IS, Clinical Informatics, and the Providence/Epic Team.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects associated with the evaluation, selection, implementation, and/or optimization of systems and system interfaces related to revenue cycle operations.
  • Track, submit, and provide status updates on tickets submitted to Providence.
  • Provide local Business Informatics support to revenue cycle and finance departments.
  • Provide technical support to Pullman Regional revenue cycle areas, both at the billing office, hospital, and on or off-site clinics, regarding the use of software. Troubleshoot software problems and initiate corrective procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers/partners/vendors to identify and resolve issues.
  • Act as Administrator for assigned payer and vendor websites, including user access permissions.
  • Create and provide educational materials and resources as assigned to support revenue cycle operations. Prepare and present trainings to assigned target audiences.
  • Actively participate in continuous process improvement efforts of the department and organization. Assist with identifying, measuring, and tracking KPIs.
  • Actively participate in team accountability. Support department efforts through collaboration and ongoing learning and personal development.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new hires, by ensuring access and appropriate roles are assigned. Follow-up with new hires to ensure Epic educational needs and resources are met and that the employee has the necessary access to (RI assigned) vendor and payer websites/portals.

Non-essential functions:
  • Any other duties as needed to drive towards the vision, fulfil the mission, and abide by the values of the organization.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 80% of the time.
  • Needs to move about inside the office suite, office building, off-site locations, and main hospital campus for meetings, trainings, and as needed to accomplish department and position objectives.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery (i.e. phone, copier, printer, etc.)
  • Frequent work with large amounts of digital data requiring ability to detect, identify, compare, and assess accuracy of information on the computer screens and in paper format.

Environmental Conditions:
  • Primarily indoors, though job requires going to both on-campus and off-campus locations occasionally, with potential exposure to adverse or extreme outdoor weather conditions. Must wear appropriate clothing, gear, and/or shoes needed to traverse in various weather.
  • Remote/Work-From-Home work may be approved for certain tasks. If working remotely, employee must ensure a safe and private work space that complies with all state and federal regulations.
  • Occasional exposure to noise from printers, telephones and fax machines.
  • Minimal risk of injury due to proximity of moving parts on computer printer, typewriter, and copier.
  • Minimal exposure to fumes and caustic materials from copy machine toner and cleaning supplies.
  • Minimal exposure to biohazardous materials.

Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional travel between the various clinics and the hospital.
