The ICCT is looking for a Revenue Accountant to lead on accounts receivable and collaborate on related accounting activities. A core part of the role is to develop and implement best practices for revenue recognition.
You will be based in either our Washington, D.C. or San Francisco office, report to the Finance Manager, and work with program and operations staff at all levels of the organization. You Will:
- Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliation of donor contributions, grants, and contract payments
- Review grants and contracts to understand project-specific financial terms and conditions for proper revenue recognition and ensure accurate and timely recognition of revenue in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards (ASC 606 and other applicable standards) and ICCT procedures
- Develop and maintain the accounts receivable tracker and aging report to ensure timely submission and posting of invoices
- Monitor and reconcile deferred revenue and ensure accurate recognition when conditions are met or when restrictions are released
- Prepare and post journal entries in Sage Intacct
- Collaborate with auditors and participate in annual financial audits to ensure compliance and provide necessary documentation related to revenue recognition, accounts receivable balances, entries, and other relevant audit support activities
- Perform intercompany entries and reconciliations
- Continuously identify and implement system and process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the organization's AR procedures
- Provide guidance and training to staff and team members on revenue recognition policies, procedures, and best practices
- Assist with special projects to facilitate the effective functioning of the Finance Department
You Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 2+ years of experience
- Experience with grant or contract accounting, and/or in a nonprofit environment preferred
- Strong ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) & US GAAP knowledge
- Experience with accounting and/or budgeting software (ICCT uses the Sage Intacct ERP for the general ledger, Salesforce for grants & contracts, and Workday Adaptive for budgeting)
- Highly proficient with MS Excel
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
- Interest in working with an international staff of 100+ to support ICCT's mission
- Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment preferred
Our Benefits
This full-time position will be based in our Washington, D.C. or San Francisco office and have a salary of $71,700 (DC) and $78,870 (SF). We offer an excellent benefits package, including health insurance, substantial paid vacation, retirement contribution with a generous 7% employer contribution, transportation subsidies, and other benefits.
