The Retort Process Technician performs work activities at the site to support the production of char.
- Observe production or monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Monitor equipment operation, gauges, panels and screens to detect deviations from standards
- Confer with other technicians and plant management to report equipment malfunctions or to resolve production problems
- Press and adjust controls to activate, set and regulate equipment or machinery according to specifications
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments for optimal performance
- Troubleshoot machinery and equipment to maintain operations and minimize downtime
- Record operational and production data on/in specified forms or programs
- Operate heavy equipment to transport raw and finished materials and loaded trailers
- Clean, lubricate and adjustment equipment or machinery
- Perform routine housekeeping and groundskeeping, including but not limited to plant washdown, sweeping, shoveling and other activities
- Plan and conduct preventive maintenance activities and monthly inspections on equipment and machinery
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Critical thinking to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problem
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
- Currently employed for at least one (1) year
- Previous work experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment strongly preferred
