Position Summary

Responsible for the overall daily management of program operations, special events, budgets and for providing direct assistance in a variety of areas related to the overall efficient programmatic operations of the Retired and Senior Volunteer (RSVP) programs in Wayne County.

Reports to: RSVP Director

Supervises: Wayne County Program Coordinators, Program volunteers

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience in volunteer management; advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of community resources/contacts relevant to older adults.
  • Ability to work well with people of varying economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Good record keeping skills.
  • Position requires a highly organized, assertive manner with good interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written skills
  • Successful completion of initial and on-going employment screens, including, but not limited to criminal background, sex offender, drug screen, OIG, valid Michigan driver’s license, abuse and neglect and vehicle record check as required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • In coordination with the COO and other Senior Services Program Managers as appropriate, develop and carry out strategic plan for assigned location operations.
  • Carry out responsibilities on personnel matters from hiring and evaluating volunteers through training and disciplinary issues up to and including termination in collaboration with the Program Director & Human Resources
  • Attend and facilitate agency and department meetings, training as required; maintaining minutes as assigned
  • Represent CCSEM at community events and conduct oneself in an ethical, mature and professional manner with honesty and integrity, welcoming clients, coworkers and other stakeholders with dignity and respect
  • Adhere to the Mission, Values and Vision of CCSEM and the values and teachings of the Catholic Church

Services:

  • Provide day-to-day administration of Wayne County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
  • In conjunction with Director, assure program compliance with funding and programming requirements of the Corporation for National and Community Services, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and other funding sources.
  • Hire, train and oversee program coordinators for the RSVP program.
  • Provide support and assist with the Foster Grandparent Program and Senior Companion Program when needed.
  • Recruit, enroll, train, and support RSVP volunteers.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with a variety of organizations and agencies to develop challenging volunteer opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain memorandums of understanding with volunteer stations.
  • Maintain program quality by developing annual program goals and objectives for RSVP.
  • Develop and implement an ongoing marketing program to increase community awareness and support of volunteer efforts, in conjunction with the Program Director.
  • Maintain current program and volunteer records.
  • Oversee the collection of program data and prepare and submit reports within required time frames.
  • Provide support to, and assist in developing, the Community Advisory Group
  • Attend training conferences and meetings sponsored by AmeriCorps Seniors and other funding sources as designated by Program Director
  • Plan and conduct an annual volunteer recognition event and ongoing activities to recognize the contributions of individual volunteers
  • Assure program accountability through the establishment and maintenance of program records.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service sessions and participate in relevant committees and tasks forces.
  • Stay informed of current developments and activities in the field and make use of educational opportunities and resources to improve skills.
  • Develop new programming and expand current programming.
  • Assist with the creation of the volunteer newsletter.
  • Ensure site provides services consistent with the values and teachings of the Archdiocese of Detroit and the Catholic Church
  • Assist Program Director with additional projects and duties as assigned

Work Environment, Physical Demands & Travel:

This position involves a combination of office-based work and travel to other offices, non-profit agencies, events, and/or client locations as required by position responsibilities and/or Agency management. This job operates in a professional office environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment; at times a need may arise to lift file boxes and support office maintenance functions which may include move office furniture, bend or stand on a stool and lift a max of 20 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Annually, attendance at two conferences is required: one out of state and one is within Michigan, otherwise travel is up to 20% of this position and within Southeast Michigan.

Position Classification, Type & Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time exempt position. The core days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
