Job Summary

Looking for passionate and energetic individuals that share a love for the outdoors while meeting the needs of our customers and guests. As an instructor/retail specialist, you will become an expert in all things TC; class offerings, tours, products, apparel, and equipment. As a valued TC employee, you will have access to all TC classes, tours, gear, apparel, and footwear at a special discounted rate.

Responsibilities

• Discovering guest needs through engaging and inspiring interactions and providing viable solutions for each guest
• Instruct Beginner/Intermediate level flatwater kayaking/paddleboarding classes 1-2 times per week
• Team/Safety first focus
• Meet or exceed personal and business sales goals
• Maintain all product is always fully stocked
• Maintain store cleanliness standards at all times
• Learn all aspects of the products & services offered by TC
• Become a local activity expert to assist customers in the safe enjoyment of Central Oregon
• Process sales accurately and timely
• Ensures accurate processing, merchandising and back stock of all products shipped and received by the store
• Must be able to model the desired behaviors, policies and procedures consistently

Qualifications

• Must be self-sufficient and work independently as well as contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to demonstrate patience and enthusiasm while communicating with customers, co-workers and members of the community
• Ability to work accurately under stress and pressure.
• Ability to multi task several projects at once
• Tenacity to handle rejection and continue with a positive attitude when reaching the next potential customer, employee or vendor.
• Basic computer skills to operate our POS/Inventory system.
• Basic skills with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Helps customer/employees make selections by building customer/employee confidence.
• Attention to detail. Strong organizational skills
• First Aid/CPR Certified (May obtain post hire)

Preferred:

• Paddle Sports Instructor/Trip Leader Experience
• Retail experience
• Visual merchandising experience
• Outdoor gear experience. Kayaks, Sups, Rafting, Apparel, Footwear, Paddling Gear

Applicants must be:

• Available to work a variety of hours including weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Must be able to stand/walk on your feet for several hours at a time.
• Keep or regain the body's balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.
• Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath.
• Constant use hands/arms/upper body to handle, control, or feel objects, stock merchandise, move displays, etc.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds unassisted. And up to 150 pounds with assistance.
• Able to walk up and down stair, several times a day, while carrying up to 5 pounds
• At times you may be required to work outdoors, and must dress appropriately for the current weather conditions.
• Ability to communicate effectively by using active listening skills and able to convey information, suggestions and inspiration to customers
