We are hiring Retail Sales Associates for the Guinness Open Gate Brewery opening in Fulton Market!

Candidates must have at least two years in a boutique, department store, or other high-touch Retail Sales setting. We are looking for a professional, enthusiastic team who love interacting with people, are coachable and detail-oriented, and want to leave guests with great memories of the Guinness experience.

Pay: $18/hr with opportunity to participate in retail tip pool.

RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATE/BARISTA DESCRIPTION:Retail Sales Associates and Baristas are responsible for overseeing the guest experience within the retail enterprise at the Open Gate Brewery. Both positions will be cross-trained to optimize the customer experience and support customer flow. These positions are responsible for maximizing Retail Sales while creating a hospitable, personalized customer experience that nurtures an ongoing relationship between the customer, the OGB, and the Guinness brand. This includes advising on merchandise sales, maintaining an orderly retail space, barista duties, and collecting and processing guests’ payment, all within a collaborative, team-sales environment.

Retail Sales Associate Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Use sales techniques to present and encourage a high customer conversion rate, average ticket, and units per transaction

• Ensure the overall guest experience exceeds expectations and anticipate guests’ needs

• Greet guests with warmth and sincerity

• Use tact and good judgement when dealing with guest challenges and respond to guest needs with patience and courtesy

• Accurately record and account for all inventory, process payments, and balance all sales/receipts in compliance with restaurant policies and procedures

• Assist Retail Manager with stocking retail items, re-merchandising the retail store, and organizing the retail space

• Receive in-house training for barista functions to provide backup to the bakery when needed

• Account for and maintain the security of all retail stock and inventory

• Understand and respond knowledgeably to questions about the restaurant and menu

• Follow all steps of service

• Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions

• Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures

• Successfully complete alcohol awareness training as well as food service trainings and brand knowledge training

• Ability to recognize an intoxicated guest, refuse to overserve guests and seek out management with any concerns about a guest that appears intoxicated

• Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook

• Other duties will be assigned as needed

• Must be at least 18 years old

Retail Sales Associate Essential Functions:

• Accurately ring up retail, food, and beverage items and process guest payment

• Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends

• Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment

• Ability to effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction

• Ability to multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment

• Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels

• Ability to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds

• Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs and uneven or slick surfaces
