Arome is a gourmet food, wine and kitchen shop with a great selection of high quality and hard to find items. The Retail Sales Associate works closely with store management to fulfill Arome’s mission and strive for established store goals such as annual sales and average ticket. The Associate assists with customer service, private parties, events, inventory management, online order processing, store cleanliness, and store opening and closing procedures.
Our mission is to provide a world of flavors to our customers through a variety of consciously sourced loose-leaf teas spices, herbs, salts, sugars, balsamic vinegar and olive oils. We strive to provide exception experiences to our customers by welcoming all customers and offering sampling of our core products. We also carry a uniquely curated selection of gourmet kitchen wares. We go to great lengths to find local products and provide all-natural ingredients. Our products are free of additives and preservatives, coloring, MSG and all spices, teas and oil/vinegar is gluten free.
Qualifications & Experience
- 21 years of age or older (due to serving wine/beer at events)
- Courteous, positive and professional
- Able to commit to work weekends
- Have a passion for food, cooking, and teas
- Ability to work on feet and go up and down stairs for 100% of working time
- Ability to carry inventory up and down stairs
- Ability once training is complete to work alone in the store and complete opening and closing tasks without assistance.
- Can lift and/or carry up to 30lb unassisted, up and down stairs
- Previous sales experience in a retail environment
- Customer service background
- Basic computer skills; ability to be trained on using a Point of Sales System,
- Employment in job is subject to a satisfactory background check
- Food Handler’s Card
Responsibilities
The Associate will perform tasks under four main categories as listed below:
- Customer Service and Sales. Communicate with customers in a courteous and professional manner to assist with product selection, resolve customer issues, operate the point of sale, execute returns and assist with private parties and events.
- Serve wine and beer. Follow OLCC rules and maintain a OLCC server's license to responsibly serve wine, beer and cider during private parties and special events.
- Floor Management. Straighten face displays, sweep and mop, clean bathroom, dust displays, clean windows and door, count register cash, keep sidewalk clear of snow and ice in winter.
- Inventory Management. Communicate when low and out of stock products are observed per inventory management system, receive incoming inventory, restock floor with products from storage area, notify Store Manager of special order requests from customers.
- Perform additional tasks as requested by Store Manager or Owner.
